The Public Affairs Division of the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis is looking for aSenior Communications Specialistfor its Public Affairs division. This seasoned professional will advance the Bank's goals through consistent, proactive, strategic and impactful communications. The Senior Communications Specialist will disseminate timely and accurate critical Bank information and news, serve as one of the Bank’s media contacts, as well as develop and disseminate information to media and other targeted external audiences. This individual will also monitor media and other key influencers for news and developments related to various Bank business lines, the Federal Reserve System and the national/regional economy.

Similar to the agency model, the Senior Communications Specialist will have integrated communications oversight for one or more key business lines of the Bank. Working closely with colleagues to gain comprehensive knowledge and subject matter expertise, the Senior Communications Specialist will function as a relationship manager and communications consultant on behalf of Bank business lines. In this role, he/she will write news releases and other content, coordinate social media, manage media relationships, support officials during public speaking and media engagements and oversee communications-related projects.

Responsibilities * Contribute professional insight and expertise to the development of the Bank's overall media and communications strategy * Manage and enhance relationships with a wide range of electronic and print media outlets (including new and traditional media), Bank staff, and public affairs counterparts throughout Federal Reserve System and financial services industry * Proactively address emerging issues, and monitor current events and market conditions to anticipate responses to the media * Lead communications efforts for specific business lines, collaborating with executives to develop and execute effective, innovative, comprehensive strategic plans * Support the Bank's efforts to improve public understanding of the Federal Reserve's actions in many areas: monetary policy, the national and regional economy, regulatory reform, banking conditions, economic education and community development * Be an effective team player, providing professional support to colleagues and engaging as needed across a wide variety of areas * Support Bank business lines by managing their external communications projects as well as recommending and implementing communications strategies to reach targeted audiences. Projects and strategies may include event materials, newsletters and marketing collateral. * Manage key projects or publications and/or key corporate communications initiatives. * Project management, attention to detail, and meeting deadlines are priorities.

Qualifications* * * Bachelor's degree or higher in journalism, public relations, communications, business, economics, or related field or commensurate experience. * 8-10 years of experience in a high-profile role involving transformative, communications management * 3-5 years of experience in the field of journalism * Proven ability to provide strategic, innovative leadership; experience planning and executing broad communications efforts * Established contacts and relationships in the media/press community * Solid knowledge of the financial services industry including the ability to write clear, concise communications on complex economics, finance, market, and regulatory issues * Familiarity with and interest in the Federal Reserve's activities and the impact on key stakeholders at the local, regional, and national levels * Strong knowledge of AP Style * Exceptional writing ability under pressure * Social media knowledge/experience * Must thrive in fast-paced, rapid-turnaround environment and be able to successfully handle multiple tasks on complex topic * Candidates with less education or experience may be considered at a lower pay grade and/or salary. * Travel (15%) The Federal Reserve Bank of St Louis is ranked No.1 as a top workplace for companies with 500 or more employees.
