The Desktop Support Technician performs field services for the core infrastructure which includes, but not limited to maintaining, analyzing, troubleshooting, documenting, repairing computer systems, and hardware and computer peripherals. The Desktop Technician assists in troubleshooting specific maintenance services as needed for server, network and telecom systems. This will also need a record of demonstrating technical expertise, a record of successful projects and satisfied clients, and ability to understand and articulate customer needs, and a history of taking initiative.
Enters call data into tracking system.
Diagnoses and resolves problems using documented procedures and checklists.
Assists with the resolution of application, hardware and software problems.
Escalates problems to higher level technical support professionals when necessary.
Completes end to end desktop activities for installs, moves, adds, changes, updates and projects.
Provides desktop services to customers following documented processes while providing a good customer service experience to those supported.
Validates IT related assets.
Interact with customers using a high degree of patience and problem management techniques to solve problems.
Frequent communications and follow up during the issues resolution process
Connect networkable devices to wired and wireless networks and troubleshoot basic networking problems
Test and unsure applications are correctly installed and configured to the computer
Administration duties as assigned, including asset management tracking
Ability to recommend system modifications to reduce user problems
- High School or Equivalent RequiredAssociate's Degree preferred
- Two to three years of relevant work experience required.Valid driver's license and clear driving record required.
Excellent communication skills with both customers and co-workers
Experience configuring and testing Desktop systems with limited supervision
Thorough understanding of Desktop and Laptop hardware
General knowledge of all current Microsoft Operating systems
Fundamental understanding of networking principles
A positive attidue is a must
Ability to apply critical thinking skills as needed
May be required to lift and carry up to 50lbs. of computer equipment
Some travel required
