The Boeing Research & Technology, Systems Technology Team is looking for a qualified, energetic manager to lead its Platform Subsystems Technology (PST), Capability Technology Team (CTT).
The PST CTT is developing innovative total energy management technologies, power/thermal technologies (including generators, Solid State Electrical Distribution Units (SSEDUs), and Electrical Accumulator Units (EAUs)), advanced wiring tools, subsystem components and subsystem modeling.

This position is for a multi-skill, Level M Manager who will be the PST lead.
The candidate’s duties will include: 1) managing employees and first-level managers performing activities with multiple engineering disciplines; 2) developing and executing integrated organizational plans, policies, and procedures plus leading process improvements; 3) guiding the development of business and technical strategies, goals, and objectives; 4) managing, developing, and motivating the PST teammates and first-level managers; 5) ensuring that all CRAD and NBF objectives are met on time and within budget; 6) coordinating effectively with our Boeing internal NBF customers; 7) working effectively with our external CRAD customers; and 8) effectively managing our Strategic University and corporate suppliers.
The successful candidate will lead an energetic, Huntington Beach-based and St Louis-based team of 30 teammates and coordinate as required with other Boeing divisions.
The successful candidate will be based in St. Louis, MO, where a majority of the PST teammates are based.

Basic Qualifications (Required):
This position requires an active Secret U.S. Security Clearance. (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active.)
Experience in working effectively with U.S. Government customers on CRAD development efforts.
Good proposal preparation and report writing skills.
Demonstrated ability to: develop and implement large-scale, high-impact integrated organizational plans; assign authority and responsibilities to leadership team to execute the plan; review plan's execution, make appropriate adjustments, and resolves issues; and evaluate feasibility of plans and make decisions to continue or discontinue programs, projects or processes as appropriate.
Manage personnel, facilities, services, equipment and tools to meet project and organizational requirements.
Demonstrated ability to acquire, deploy and schedule personnel to meet organizational objectives.
Determine critical skills within an organization or functional area, and develop and implement staffing and development plans to ensure necessary skills are available within the company.
Review, approve and implement facility, equipment and service plans to maximize productivity and ensure safety, security, environmental and regulatory compliance.
Good presentation and communication skills including the ability to prepare and give presentations at technical meetings.
The ability to manage a diverse team that is located across the U.S.
Experience with design, integration, and test of electrical aircraft power systems.
Understanding of Matlab/Simulink or other real-time modeling tools

Keep others informed by communicating business vision and strategies, program or project status, conducting and participating in leadership meetings, providing presentations and listening to employee concerns and suggestions. Communicate appropriate policies and directives to enhance employee awareness and clarify expectations.
Guide the development and implementation of policies, procedures and documents in order to ensure consistent execution of processes within organization in support of Boeing and regulatory requirements. Enforce company rules and policies regarding ethical behavior, safety, security, use of company property, time charging, etc.
Determine critical skills within an organization or functional area and develop and implement staffing and development plans to ensure necessary skills are available within the company. Ensure proper job classification of employees, set employee goals and objectives, manage and evaluate performance to plan on a reoccurring basis. Assign employee salaries based on employee value and Boeing guidelines to provide a fair and equitable work environment.
Generate requirements and analyzes technical approach, statement of work, labor and deliverables for programs or projects to ensure a quality product is received. Participate in make/buy decisions and recommends source selection for programs and projects.
Create and execute supplier technical oversight plans for internal/external sources. Recommend disposition of supplier deliverables. Interface with suppliers and subcontractors for verification and validation of requirements. Integrate supplier activities across the organizations.
- Degree and typical experience in engineering classification: Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, or physics. Bachelor's/Master’s with 18 or more years' experience. Demonstration of leadership abilities with the ability to set strategy and lead a team in the engineering arena is required.
