Cerner Solution Designer in Kansas City, Missouri
The Solution Designer is responsible for the development and delivery of Cerner’s HIM suite of solutions. Specific responsibilities include defining and documenting vision, functional requirements, and risk analysis using solution management tools and processes. Additionally, the associate works with clients as a partner in development of applications and verifies that the solution meets the functional requirements and approves the solution for release. Other activities include documenting functionality requirements and business rules for solutions updates, communicating existing and emerging production functionality, supporting Cerner sales processes including demonstration support, request for proposal (RFP) questions and training sales associates, and supporting Cerner marketing processes including trade show support, writing and reviewing marketing collateral.
Performs analysis and creates functional requirements, use case models, use case specifications, activity diagrams and/or other artifacts defined in the requirements workflow of the methodology.
Defines/ develops or supports product vision through client interaction, market research, interpretation of regulatory and accrediting agency guidelines.
Develops proficiency in specific solution areas.
Tracks solution functionality and performance to ensure that it meets market needs through validation of functional requirements, visual design, test plans and code delivery/ code development.
Collaborates across solution groups on similar functionality to ensure common process and seamless integration.
Seeks opportunities to advance solutions through innovation.
Performs other responsibilities as needed.

Bachelor’s degree with emphasis in related field or equivalent experience
Background in healthcare, sciences, or information systems
Must be living in or willing to relocate to Kansas City metropolitan area
At least 2 years of experience in HIM ((deficiency management/chart completion, release of information, coding)
RHIT, RHIA, CCS, and/or CCSP certification status
Experience coding from a complete electronic record
Inpatient coding/reimbursement and coding compliance experience
Successful completion of a coding certificate program in a program with AHIMA approval status
Knowledge of ICD-9-CM, ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS and CPT coding principles and guidelines
Knowledge of reimbursement systems, as well as federal, state and payer-specific regulations and policies pertaining to documentation, coding and billing
